Powercruise 2012

In less than 10 days, many of the FNLX’ers will invade the Brainerd area and will be bombing the track at Brainerd International Raceway as part of Powercruise.  Seriously one of the best driving events ever created!

If you’re coming, stop by our tent and say hi.

If you’re not coming, well – we’ll be nice…  this time.

Just because the North is Frozen, doesn’t mean the racing stops.

The temps are dropping, and all the legal tracks are closing for the season.  So what’s the next best thing?  Pro Kart Indoors had our fix!  Our club came with about 16 people, with 13 racing.  Sometimes I worry about large groups like us showing up at places, but Pro Kart knew what to do – they treated us like rock stars, and build a custom racing package for us.  Truly an awesome experience.  We all liked it so much, we’re planning on going back there in January.

After racing, we went to the newly opened restaurant in Burnsville, called The Rack.  Service was a bit rough around the edges, but to be fair… I can’t remember ever getting awesome service at a restaurant with 12+ people.  Also, don’t order the shrimp or the steamed veggies, yikes.  I’ll save you time here, just order the Blue Collar Special, a PITCHER of beer and 12 wings.

And our night cap?  Burn, a cigar shop in Burnsville.  Even though the place was “closing” at 8pm, and we got there at 8pm, the owner let us hang out, play dominos, and smoke cigars until close to 10:30pm!   I can’t thank Burn enough for the amazing hospitality.  It was an epic night.

FNLX At Rock Falls Raceway

September 10th, 2012 No comments

Rock Falls Raceway,  just a few miles south-west of Eau Claire, Wisconsin held a Muscle Car Race on September 9th. A bunch of us from FNLX made the trek for a day of hanging out, eating good food (that pork butt was awesome, Pat!) and of course for some drag racing.

The day started off cool and allowed member Adam to run a personal best 12.1 in his Charger RT. We had quite a few members who were new to drag racing, yet they quickly got the hang of it and improved in both reaction times and ET’s as the day wore on.

Congratulations has to go out to member Jason who came away with 4th place in the Consolation Final. He figured out his dial and was nailing it every single time. Good work!

Big thanks to member Adam for organizing this event. We’ll definitely be back, and hopefully sooner rather than later!
