3 Personal Bests at Rock Falls Today!
A few of our members made the trek out to Eau Claire, WI for some drag racing today and had some really good times. Here’s how our members fared:
Adam in his 2006 Dodge Charger R/T set a personal best time of 11.741 seconds in one run, and a personal best speed of 117.21 MPH.
Jason in his 2011 Dodge Charger R/T set a personal best time of 12.65 seconds.
Craig in his 2009 Dodge Challenger R/T set his own personal best time of 13.051 (so damn close to the 12′s!), a personal best speed of 108.34 MPH and a personal best reaction time of .009!
Rock’n Mopars Show, Vol. 1
…was a SUCCESS! On Saturday May 4th the Frozen North LX Car Club and Fury Jeep Stillwater hosted the first ever Rock’n Mopars Modern Mopar Car Show. Despite the forecast of a rainy 40 degree day, we decided to live up to our Frozen North name. What do you know, 51 cars showed up! We had everything from Challengers to Magnums, Neons to Darts and everything in between! The best part was that the forecasters were wrong and I know what you’re thinking… Impossible! Nope, they were dead wrong. Not a single rain drop fell from the sky and the temps got into the 50′s which for us Minnesotans means that it’s time to break out the shorts and tanks! Okay I’m getting side tracked here. So the weather actually turned out to be quite nice and we were all able to shed our jackets around noon.
Tot Boss food truck was on scene serving up some delicious tater tot dishes and DJ Natetron was on the turn tables keepin’ us rockin’ all day long! We raffled off 5 door prizes including challenger scoops from Retro USA and a gift certificate for window tint from Shaded Image. We also gave away 9 plaques and a trophy for the top 10 cars in attendance.
Stay tuned for Vol. II coming October 5th!
Adam gets in the 11′s!
A couple weeks back we had a few of our members make the track to Illinois to hit the quarter mile. Adam in his 2006 Dodge Charger R/T has been chasing the 11′s for some time and finally broke through! Congrats!!!
We had three members make the 6 hour drive for a weekend of racing, weather didn’t play nice on Saturday, but two members were able to hang out for an extra day and make some magic.
In the right lane, was Jason, another FNLX member in a 2011 Charger. If I were a betting man, I would bet that he’s into the mid 12′s before the summer is over.
Stay tuned…
Our Annual Meeting was held in January
On January 12th, we had our Annual Meeting at Fury Motors in South St Paul. We had a great turn out for the meeting, tweaked our Bylaws a bit – and announced our event schedule for the year. We also announced that for 2012, Zack was our Top Fuel Member for the year!
After the business was done, most of the group headed over to B-52′s Burgers & Brew in Inver Grove Heights for some grub. We had a pretty big group, and they did a pretty decent job accommodating us. No night with the club is complete without a stop at Burn Premium Cigars in Burnsville. I swear, this place is becoming our home away from home. One of the nicest cigar shops in the state!
Anyway… We’re really excited about 2013! If you see us at a car show/meet/event, stop under the tent and say hi!
Just because the North is Frozen, doesn’t mean the racing stops.
The temps are dropping, and all the legal tracks are closing for the season. So what’s the next best thing? Pro Kart Indoors had our fix! Our club came with about 16 people, with 13 racing. Sometimes I worry about large groups like us showing up at places, but Pro Kart knew what to do – they treated us like rock stars, and build a custom racing package for us. Truly an awesome experience. We all liked it so much, we’re planning on going back there in January.
After racing, we went to the newly opened restaurant in Burnsville, called The Rack. Service was a bit rough around the edges, but to be fair… I can’t remember ever getting awesome service at a restaurant with 12+ people. Also, don’t order the shrimp or the steamed veggies, yikes. I’ll save you time here, just order the Blue Collar Special, a PITCHER of beer and 12 wings.
And our night cap? Burn, a cigar shop in Burnsville. Even though the place was “closing” at 8pm, and we got there at 8pm, the owner let us hang out, play dominos, and smoke cigars until close to 10:30pm! I can’t thank Burn enough for the amazing hospitality. It was an epic night.
